Hi! I'm Melissa

Art has been a part of my life as long as I can remember, but it took a backseat in pursuit of a career in an arguably very different field. After getting a Bachelor's degree, then my Master's, I worked in emergency management for a decade where I've been able to travel the world helping people and communities on their worst days: fires, floods, hurricanes, and search and rescue. I love helping people. I think a lot of my motivation lies in being able to connect to one another and essentially say, "I see you, and I'm here to help." Plus, if my previous career taught me anything, it was how to thrive in environments that are unpredictable and exciting - it's why I love photographing events like rodeo - and also how to be able to buffer chaos and create a calm environment for private clients, like in my creative portrait sessions.

I apply the same philosophy to art. I see you, I see how awesome you are, how much people enjoyed your event, the emotion of competition, how people light up when they hear their favourite song, and I want to help people feel what it was like to be a part of that day. Even for portraits - the photos you receive are a reminder of how you felt that day, and I want you to feel safe, comfortable, and creatively inspired when we work together.

I'm located in Quesnel, BC where I live with my partner and our pets on our beautiful acreage. If I'm not creating, you can find me in my garden, gaming, or reading.
