Questions about being photographed? Start here

This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?

First of all - you should know that I'm thrilled to be working with you! If you've read this far, you know that I am passionate about helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera and taking photos that don't feel awkwardly posed or uncomfortable, and I take my commitment to inclusivity seriously.

Your experience starts with an inquiry, then I'll send you a follow up message with a pre-consultation questionnaire to get a better idea of what inspires you and what you're looking for, both out of this experience and the tangible products you receive at the end. This form helps prepare us for your actual consultation. From there, we'll plan all the logistics for the fun part of the process: the actual shoot!

Leading up to our session, you'll receive more information about how to prepare for our appointment, and you can reach out at any time with questions.

While we're shooting, I'll give some direction if that's what you're looking for, but this is really all about collaboration! It's your story, and I want to visually showcase how wonderful it is.

Overall, my goal is your comfort, creating a safe space to enjoy yourself (especially if you're trying this for the first time!), and be as encouraging and supportive as possible. You can pause or stop at any time!

What does payment look like?

At minimum, I require a retainer of 50% of the price of your chosen session type to secure your consultation and photoshoot date. Your retainer is non-refundable and is put toward your total cost. After our consultation, I’ll send you a custom invoice so you know exactly what to expect for your total, and my contract, which will include all the details about my policies, our agreed-upon photoshoot plan, and finances. Additional fees you might incur depend on the location of your shoot and the complexity of coordinating logistics and other production details, like rentals and mileage. All of this will always be discussed in our consultation, clearly laid out in our contract, and coordinated only after your contract is signed!

I’m more than happy to set up a payment plan, so please let me know if that would work best for you in your form. You will just need to pay your invoice in full prior to receiving your photo gallery. I’m able to accept e-transfer, cash, or card and PayPal through my website.

Location, clothing, and hair and makeup services

My sessions are "bring your own" hair and makeup, and mostly clothing - I do have a limited prop and wardrobe inventory I can offer, but it may not be what you're looking for, so planning for your own outfits is a safe bet (and I'm happy to help with this if needed!)

I am an "on location" photographer - prepared to be photographed outdoors or on location. In lieu of a dedicated studio space, you can come to my scenic property, I come to you, or we choose a place together. If we choose an indoor space, I have a mobile lighting and backdrop set up I can bring.

Rental of any desired space is the responsibility of the client, but I am more than happy to help with research and location scouting as part of our planning process.

What if I want something different that what your packages include?

All you have to do is ask! I love creating something personal and customized for people. I value community, making art in its many forms accessible, and meeting people where they're at - that may look like a payment plan or creating something different that works within your budget. I don't think that discussing budget should feel uncomfortable or taboo; rather, I appreciate transparency and working together to come up with a plan that makes sense for the both of us!

When do I receive my photos?

Definitely take a look at the package you're interested in to get a sense of the timelines I offer for delivering your gallery. I always aim to get photos in your hands sooner!

I require that your session be paid in full before receiving your full gallery, so please keep that in mind when it comes to timelines. Should we agree to a payment plan, adjusted timelines will also be included in your contract so there's no surprises.

If I have a specific timeline or number of photos I want, is that okay?

Absolutely! I'll always work with you to create a plan that makes sense for the both of us. This information will be included in your contract. If there is a significant rush to deliver your images or number of images required, you might incur additional fees, but this will all be agreed upon prior to signing your contract and proceeding with our session!

What if we need to reschedule?
  • Your 50% retainer is your non-refundable session booking fee to secure your date. It can be transferred to a new date once if notice is given more than 24 hours in advance. If you require rescheduling a second time, you will lose your retainer and will be required to submit another should you wish to book again.
  • No shows or outright cancellations with the 24 hour window will not be refunded any monies paid.
  • Exceptions are made for illness if you need to cancel within 24 hours.
  • If I have to cancel or reschedule for any unforeseen circumstance, I'll let you know as soon as possible and do whatever I can do reschedule. If we can't make rescheduling work under those circumstances, you'll be refunded completely.
Do you travel?

Sure do! I use the CRA website to calculate mileage and other expenses. Travel fees apply outside of Quesnel. If we're flying, the cost of my flight to and from the destination and accommodation is the responsibility of the client; however, if the option to drive or fly apply to our destination, the most cost- and time-effective option will be chosen and you'll see that appear in your invoice. We'll cover all this in our planning session too. I will be 100% transparent on these costs as I never intend to make money off of charging travel fees - the goal is just to cover my own expenses, which makes it possible for me to be there. I've photographed all over Canada and the US - let's go on an adventure!

Do you offer discounted rates?

You bet! I offer discounted rates for the following:

  • Model calls - stay up to date on my Instagram & here on my website
  • First responders & veterans
  • Charitable or non-profit organizations
What is your privacy policy?

I will only share photos that you consent to be shared. I will provide you with a model release where you can choose to share all or some of your images on my socials and my website. I'm super grateful if you let me post your images, but completely understand if you don't want that! If you choose to share your images, I would love to be tagged - it truly makes any photographer's day when this happens!

I will share your images by email. Outside of our correspondence regarding your photoshoot and images, I won't contact you by email unless you specifically consent to it.

Do you use generative AI?

I do not use generative AI in any of my artwork or editing. I believe art should be made ethically, with consent, by humans, for humans. I'd rather take the time to meticulously select your images and make edits by hand even if it takes me longer to do so.

What about alterations or retouching?

The extent of my retouching is removing a stray hair, tags, or sometimes a blemish. I do NOT alter your body in any way. If you desire extensive retouching, I'm either not the photographer for you, or you can request this at a rate of $250 per hour of extensive retouching.

Making additional edits or alterations to your images is not permitted, including running images through an AI program. Sometimes social media crops things in a weird way, and that is totally okay!
